Can Airbnb Hosts Get Negative Reviews Removed

2026 is shaping up to be yet another year where Airbnb hosts must simply pray that guests don’t unleash low‑rating comments for reasons that defy logic. When feedback is justified — like when short‑let hosts advertise features nowhere to be seen when guests arrive for they stay — the review system is genuinely useful. It helps millions of people make informed decisions. But the accuracy of guest reviews can sometimes feel… questionable.

The problem seems to be Airbnb’s very broad Official Review Policy, which leaves plenty of room for guests to arrive with expectations better suited to a five‑star spa resort than someone’s converted loft. In short: anyone can tank your rating because your property didn’t include a 500‑square‑foot sauna, or a Moët & Chandon champagne fountain, or a private chef on standby — even if none of these things were ever listed in the first place as available amenities. And hosts trying to get negative reviews removed quickly discover that Airbnb does not make the process easy.

“This is a constant battle. I had a guest at one of our Gulf Coast properties give us three stars because the public beach access was more crowded than they liked. We can’t control public spaces, and Airbnb wouldn’t remove the review,” recalls Eric Camardelle, owner of Salt & Light Property Solutions. “We have now learned our best defence is proactive communication. I send a welcome message with a list of several beach access points, including lesser‑known local favourites, to help manage expectations and provide a better experience from the start.”

Airbnb guests dissatisfied with amenities they never paid for

The number of Airbnb guests leaving low scores because a property doesn’t include a 500‑square‑foot sauna or a champagne fountain — even though these were never listed as amenities in the first place — is probably small. But the list of guests unhappy about amenities they never paid for is not one to ignore..

“As an Airbnb host for several properties in Augusta, I’ve experienced the frustration of unfair reviews firsthand. Recently, a guest gave my rental a two‑star rating because it lacked a fire pit, despite this amenity never being listed or photographed. I provided Airbnb with screenshots of my listing, yet they refused to remove it, citing their ‘authentic feedback’ policy. This single review temporarily impacted my booking rates by about 15%. I’ve since created detailed pre‑booking messages highlighting exactly what amenities are included, which has reduced misunderstandings but doesn’t solve the fundamental issue of Airbnb’s inflexible review‑removal policy,” says Paul Meyrs from Myers House Buyers.

Hosts not listing amenities on Airbnb to avoid guest expectations

To avoid clashes with guests, some Airbnb hosts are choosing not to disclose amenities that are not mandatory for a live listing.

“It is almost impossible to remove a negative review from Airbnb. I’ve managed to dispute some guest refunds, but the reviews always remain. I leave only the minimum set of amenities on the listing, even though I do provide more. For example, if there is a lift in the building, I remove it from the listing so guests can’t complain or request a refund if it’s out of service.”

“The same goes for the coffee maker, toaster, iron, and so on — they’re not listed on Airbnb, although I mention in the description that they are available. I don’t mind answering questions from guests, as long as a broken toaster doesn’t lead to a 20% refund. Once I had a guest booked for two nights who never showed up. I asked if they were experiencing any issues, but they never replied. I could see they didn’t pick up the keys. Afterwards, they left a negative review saying they were unable to check in. Airbnb support didn’t help, as I still received my payout — but the review is still online,” explains Alexandra Jev, Operations Manager at ParisVacationRentals, a company specialising in short‑term rental operations and guest services.

Why It’s So Difficult to Get Airbnb Reviews Removed

Airbnb is very likely to leave negative reviews in place if they are merely critical but not policy-violating. The difficulty in getting reviews removed from Airbnb comes down to one thing: opinions are subjective. Disagreements about cleanliness standards, noise levels or personal expectations rarely violate Airbnb’s guidelines, so requests to remove less‑than‑flattering comments are often denied. The same laid‑back approach to freedom of opinion applies even when reviews are based on factors outside a host’s control, such as the property’s location or access to nearby roads.

“I currently host an Airbnb and have received lower reviews based on factors like the location and the stairs in the property. Both are clearly disclosed in the description, so it’s frustrating to be downgraded for details guests are informed of upfront. In one instance, I refunded a guest to avoid a negative review — even though the listing explicitly notes the stairs. In another, I received a lower rating solely because of the location,” says Michelle Gean, Marketing Coordinator at Achievable. “These reviews are extremely difficult to remove, as hosts must submit a formal request proving the feedback violates Airbnb’s content policy. Even then, the decision process is highly subjective,” acknowledges Gean, who has been an Airbnb host for eight years.

Airbnb’s response on not removing guest reviews

Airbnb has maintained a strict Reviews Policy for years. According to the company’s website, it prioritises authenticity and fairness, which means that not all poor reviews can be taken down. Euronewsweek reached out to Airbnb, and a company representative confirmed that “Airbnb has a strict reviews policy to help ensure the feedback provided by users is based on personal experience and is authentic, trustworthy.”

The company — which recorded 133.6 million nights and experiences booked in Q3 2025, a 9% year‑on‑year increase — also acknowledges that having a review removed from the platform is rare.

“We generally don’t mediate review disputes, and reviews are only removed in limited circumstances where they’ve been found to violate our policies,” an Airbnb representative told Euronewsweek for this article.

What to do if a guest leaves a bad review about your Airbnb rental

If a guest leaves a bad review on your Airbnb listing, there is a process to challenge it. The first step is filling out Airbnb’s online “Report a Review” form, where you will be asked to give the reason and point out which part of the company’s content policy the review violates. You will also have the opportunity to attach photos and further proof to support your request to have a negative review removed from your listing. If Airbnb rejects the request — which is common — you can appeal once. The host will be prompted to reopen the same case and provide additional evidence.

According to the Airbnb representative liaising with Euronewsweek for this article, “Users can respond to a review publicly though, including if they disagree with it.” This is probably the only way hosts currently have of managing expectations for the next guest after a negative review lands on their property listing.

The United Kingdom continues to attract talented individuals and families from around the world, all seeking new opportunities and a high quality of life. Its unique mix of a buzzing economy, rich history, and top-tier education makes it a truly appealing place to build a future. If you’re thinking about moving, understanding what makes the UK so attractive is the perfect first step towards an exciting new chapter.

From busy city centres to peaceful countryside, the UK offers many different ways of life. A strong economy and a society that, while proud of its history, always looks ahead and innovates support it all. This combination means new residents can find both professional success and a welcoming place to call home.

Economic Opportunities and Innovation

The UK’s economy is one of the biggest and most advanced globally, offering a huge range of career paths. London remains a major financial hub, but the country’s economic strength is now spread across different regions and industries. Cities like Manchester, Bristol, and Edinburgh are becoming well-known centres for technology, creative industries, and scientific research. This variety gives professionals with different skills plenty of options.

Bringing Your Car to the UK

For many people moving to the UK, bringing a personal car is a top priority. It helps them stay independent and explore their new surroundings. Having your own car gives you the freedom to discover the UK’s beautiful countryside, visit historic towns, and handle daily life easily, especially if you live outside a main city. But the process is more complicated than just shipping it over.

The UK has specific rules for vehicles on its roads, and cars from outside the EU often need changes to meet them. This might include adjusting headlights, changing speedometers to show miles per hour, and adding fog lights to meet MOT standards. Beyond these physical changes, you’ll also have a lot of paperwork to deal with. You’ll need to sort out customs declarations, pay any applicable VAT and duty, and complete the registration process with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) to get your UK number plates. With so many steps involved, it’s worth understanding the requirements before you start importing your car, particularly if you’re unfamiliar with the UK’s registration process. Depending on your circumstances, you may also choose to use a specialist to handle practical tasks such as collection, shipping, required modifications, and final registration.

Cultural Richness and Lifestyle

Life in the UK is a rich tapestry, blending centuries of history with modern multiculturalism. New residents often love the sheer variety of experiences available. You could spend a weekend exploring ancient castles and Roman ruins, then return to a city buzzing with contemporary art, music, and international food. This mix of old and new is central to the British lifestyle.

The country’s cultural calendar is packed with events, from world-famous music festivals like Glastonbury to traditional royal ceremonies. Museums and galleries, many offering free entry, house some of the world’s most important collections. For sports fans, the passion for football, rugby, and cricket is contagious. Beyond the big attractions, many find the everyday lifestyle appealing. The friendly vibe of a local pub, the tradition of a Sunday roast, and the joy of a walk through a national park are all essential parts of the British experience. This rich tapestry of arts and culture means there’s always something new to discover.

Educational Excellence and Research

The UK is famous worldwide for its excellent education system, from primary schools to universities. For families moving with children, the quality of both state and independent schools offers confidence and peace of mind. The curriculum aims to be well-rounded, encouraging both academic success and personal growth.

At the university level, the UK is home to some of the world’s most prestigious and world-leading universities. Institutions like Oxford, Cambridge, and Imperial College London are known for academic excellence, but high-quality teaching and research are found across the country. This attracts students, academics, and researchers from around the world, creating a diverse and intellectually stimulating environment. For professionals moving to the UK, this hub of knowledge offers chances for further study, collaboration, and access to a highly skilled talent pool, strengthening the country’s role as a global leader in innovation and ideas.

Smoothly Integrating into Life

Moving to a new country means more than just finding a job and a place to live; it’s about building a life. The UK has strong systems to help new residents settle in. One of the first practical steps is getting set up with the National Health Service (NHS), the UK’s publicly funded healthcare system. By registering with a local GP, you and your family can access primary medical care.

Sorting out your finances is another key task. Opening a UK bank account is fairly straightforward and essential for getting paid and paying bills. You’ll also need to apply for a National Insurance number, which you need for employment and to track your tax contributions. Beyond these administrative steps, social integration matters. The UK is full of hobbyists, and joining a local sports club, book group, or volunteer organisation is a great way to meet people who share your interests. Many towns and cities also have expat groups that can offer support as you settle in. These practical and social structures help make moving to the UK a positive, manageable experience.

The UK’s appeal lies in its unique mix of career opportunities, rich culture, and high standard of living. While moving here needs careful planning, the rewards of building a new life are huge. The country’s dynamic and welcoming environment continues to make it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a new home.

How to manage exam stress and stay focused

How to manage exam stress and stay focused
Anxiety can get in the way of your studying and performance. | Photo: Yan Krukau

The pressure to do well in exams is something most students are familiar with. While a little stress can push you forward, too much can feel overwhelming and actually make things harder. Feeling anxious before a big test is a normal reaction, but if that anxiety starts getting in the way of your studying and performance, it’s time to do something about it. Managing exam stress isn’t about getting rid of it completely, but about finding ways to keep it at a level where you can still do your best.

This means more than just last-minute cramming. A balanced approach that takes care of your mind and body is the best way to get through revision calmly and confidently. From smart study habits to self-care, here are some practical tips for handling the pressure.

Understanding Exam-Related Anxiety

Exam anxiety is more than just feeling a bit nervous. It can show up physically with symptoms like a racing heart, headaches, or an upset stomach. Mentally, it might make it hard to concentrate, cause memory blanks, or bring on an overwhelming sense of dread. Noticing these signs is the first step to dealing with them.

It helps to remember that your body is having a genuine stress response. The trick isn’t to fight it, but to learn how to calm it down. Acknowledging that what you’re feeling is a common reaction can make the anxiety itself feel less scary. There are many effective tips for managing stress that focus on changing your mindset and how your body reacts to pressure, helping you feel more in control when things feel overwhelming.

Effective Study Planning

A big reason for exam stress is feeling unprepared or disorganised. Making a structured and realistic study plan can turn a huge amount of revision into a series of manageable steps. Start by breaking down each subject into smaller topics. Set aside specific time slots for each one, but be realistic. A schedule packed with back-to-back study sessions without breaks is a recipe for burnout.

Mix up your study methods to keep things interesting, like making flashcards, working through past papers, or explaining concepts to a friend. Using high-quality materials is also key to building confidence. For subjects that need detailed knowledge, finding a reliable source for IGCSE revision can give you the structure you need to feel completely ready. The goal is to work smarter, not just harder, by building a routine that feels productive rather than punishing.

Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques

When your mind is racing with “what ifs,” simple relaxation techniques can bring you back to the present. You don’t need to spend hours meditating to feel the benefits. Just five minutes focusing on your breathing can make a big difference. Try the box breathing technique: breathe in for four seconds, hold for four, breathe out for four, and hold for four. Repeat this a few times until you feel your heart rate slow down.

Taking short, regular breaks is also crucial. Step away from your desk, stretch, listen to calming music, or take a quick walk outside. Getting some fresh air and changing your environment can reset your focus and lower stress levels. These small actions help reduce anxiety during exams by giving your brain a much-needed rest and stopping mental fatigue from setting in.

The Importance of Sleep and Nutrition

Your brain’s ability to learn, remember information, and handle stress is directly tied to your physical well-being. Sacrificing sleep to cram for a few extra hours is one of the worst things you can do. A tired brain can’t hold onto information effectively and is more likely to feel anxious. Aim for seven to nine hours of good quality sleep each night. To sleep better, create a relaxing bedtime routine and avoid screens for at least an hour before you turn out the light.

What you eat and drink also matters. Sugary snacks and too much caffeine can cause energy spikes and crashes, making it harder to concentrate and increasing jitteriness. Instead, choose balanced meals with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to give you a steady supply of energy. Staying hydrated by drinking lots of water throughout the day is also vital for staying focused and thinking clearly.

Seeking Support When Needed

You don’t have to deal with exam stress alone. Talking about how you’re feeling can make a huge difference. Your friends and family can listen and offer encouragement when you need it most. They can remind you that your worth isn’t defined by an exam result and help you keep things in perspective.

Your teachers and school counsellors are also great resources. They understand the pressures you’re facing and can offer practical advice on study techniques or help if you’re struggling with a particular topic. Reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Building a support network ensures you have people to turn to when the pressure builds, making the whole experience feel less isolating.

Innovating in manufacturing: the science behind everyday products
A product’s journey from its origin to a shop shelf is a multi-stage transformation. | Photo: Rephile water

The products we use every day, from the screen you’re reading this on to the trainers on your feet, are the result of complex and fascinating scientific processes.

Manufacturing isn’t just about assembly lines; it’s a world of applied chemistry where raw materials become the functional, durable, and safe items that fill our homes and workplaces. When you understand the science behind these goods, you see an intricate dance of innovation and precision that often goes unnoticed.

This journey, from a basic substance to a finished product, really shows off human ingenuity. It involves extracting, refining, and combining elements in ways that unlock specific properties, turning simple resources into the sophisticated technology and essential goods that define modern life.

From Raw Material to Shelf

A product’s journey from its origin to a shop shelf is a multi-stage transformation. It starts with basic raw materials, which might be natural resources like minerals, crude oil, or agricultural products. These materials are rarely useful as they are.

First, they need processing and refining into purer, more versatile forms. For example, crude oil is distilled into various fractions, which then become the starting points for countless other chemical processes.

Once refined, these materials become intermediates. These are the foundational components manufacturers use to build their final products. A plastic pellet, a roll of synthetic fabric, or a drum of industrial solvent are all intermediate goods.

The final stage involves combining these intermediates, shaping them, and adding finishing touches to create the product you recognise. A simple plastic container, for instance, starts as hydrocarbon molecules, becomes polymer resin pellets, and is finally injection-moulded into its familiar shape.

Key Chemical Ingredients

Chemical ingredients are at the heart of modern manufacturing, acting as essential building blocks. Many of these are commodity chemicals, like substances like chlorine, sodium hydroxide, sulphuric acid, and ethylene, produced in vast quantities and serving as the starting point for a wide range of other products. These chemicals are fundamental to industries from cleaning and sanitation to construction and electronics.

Manufacturers need a consistent, high-quality source for these foundational materials to ensure their own production processes run smoothly and their final products meet quality standards. Working with a reliable commodity chemicals supplier is therefore a critical step in the supply chain. These basic ingredients are then used to synthesise more complex, specialised chemicals that give a product unique characteristics, such as colour, fragrance, or specific physical properties.

Driving Product Performance

Innovation in manufacturing often comes from chemical advancements that boost a product’s performance, durability, and function. This is where specialised additives and advanced materials really shine. For example, polymers are engineered to be incredibly strong yet lightweight for use in everything from car parts to protective gear. Surfactants are designed to lower water’s surface tension, making detergents better at lifting away dirt and grime.

The field of materials science and technology is constantly pushing boundaries. New coatings can make surfaces scratch-resistant, waterproof, or even self-cleaning. Specialised pigments can create vibrant, long-lasting colours that don’t fade in sunlight. Each of these enhancements is the result of careful chemical formulation, designed to solve a specific problem and deliver a better user experience.

Sustainable Production Practices

As we become more aware of environmental impact, the manufacturing industry is increasingly focusing on sustainability. This has led to a major push for “green chemistry,” an approach that aims to reduce or eliminate the use and generation of hazardous substances. The goal is to design chemical products and processes that are safer for human health and the environment, all without sacrificing performance.

This includes developing biodegradable plastics from renewable sources like corn starch, creating solvents that are less toxic and easier to recycle, and reformulating products to remove harmful compounds. Many companies are adopting a more sustainable approach to ingredients, prioritising materials that are ethically sourced and have a smaller environmental footprint. These practices not only help protect the planet but also meet the growing consumer demand for more responsible products.

The science behind manufacturing is always changing. As chemists and engineers develop new materials and more efficient processes, the products we rely on will keep getting smarter, safer, and more sustainable.
