Featuring films from Leos Carax to Wes Anderson and Spike Lee, who is also the Jury President of its 74th edition, the Cannes Film Festival opens at the Palais des Festivals tonight with 24 films in competition.
Over 2,500 films, from around the world, were submitted for consideration in 2021 after last year’s physical edition of event was cancelled and then postponed from May to July.
As a result of a global pandemic, many filmmakers decided to hold back their work last year making the lineup of films of the latest edition a strong one. Over the next two weeks, film premieres include directors Paul Verhoeven, Joanna Hogg, Todd Haynes and Gaspar Noé.
Here are the 24 films selected for the Cannes Film Festival 2021.
